Institutional Advancement - Director of Alumni Engagement

Summary: 

D’Youville University is seeking an enthusiastic, strategic, and experienced Director of Alumni Engagement to join our Institutional Advancement team. The Director will collaborate with the Advancement team and alumni board to develop resources, policies, and visionary initiatives that support our alumni engagement goals. The successful candidate will drive and coordinate strategies across our alumni network and the College, ensuring a consistent and impactful message.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all alumni engagement efforts, including management of students, faculty, staff, volunteers, event strategy and planning, alumni communications, and budgeting.
  • Provide a framework for goal setting and benchmarking, recognizing volunteers and donors, and supporting volunteer recruitment, training, and support.
  • Participate in event-related meetings, including debriefings, to assess and improve future initiatives.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with various college offices (e.g., career services, admissions, athletics, academic programs) to leverage strengths and enhance outreach.
  • Develop a communication strategy for volunteers, including regular updates and impact reports, ensuring all volunteers are appropriately recognized for their contributions.
  • Create strategies for affinity programming and career programming in support of D’Youville alumni, ensuring program and activity goals are met.
  • Develop protocols for creating new affinity groups and guidelines for effective partnerships.
  • Collaborate with communications to oversee social media and web strategies for alumni engagement, focusing on meaningful relationship building.
  • Create an e-news communication strategy for parents, donors, and alumni that promotes D’Youville activities and key messages from Advancement.
  • Develop print materials to supplement virtual communications, ensuring comprehensive coverage for all community members.
  • Monitor and evaluate communications, providing monthly reports for staff and key volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 3-5 years of progressive experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills with a results-oriented approach.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships across the organization and communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing staff in a growing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, Raisers Edge, and other relevant software.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

Preferred: 

  • Energetic and dedicated with proven experience managing volunteers and strong leadership skills.
  • Skilled in diplomacy and confidentiality to maintain program integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and follow through effectively.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of modern data management practices and techniques for effective decision-making.
  • Appreciation for the value of health care professions and Catholic traditions, with the ability to communicate D’Youville’s mission and brand effectively.

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 Annually
