Summary: 

The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education (SASE) at D’Youville University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology. We seek a candidate with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, who is passionate about teaching in both classroom and laboratory settings within a liberal arts framework. The ideal candidate will prioritize equity in education and possess the ability to engage students at all levels. While our primary instruction is on-ground, candidates with online teaching experience or a willingness to teach online are encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants with degrees in all areas of the biological sciences, and the successful candidate will teach courses such as general biology, microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and/or cell biology.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach full-time courses required by a diverse student population across multiple degree programs.
  • Prepare for and deliver engaging lectures and laboratory sessions.
  • Hold regular office hours and provide academic advising to students.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees and engage in community service.
  • Develop and maintain a scholarly agenda, potentially involving undergraduate or graduate students in research activities.

Requirements:

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D.) in a discipline within the biological sciences is required.
  • A strong teaching record, including experience with introductory and upper-level courses in your area of expertise.
  • An innovative approach to pedagogy that enhances student engagement and success.
  • A passion for working with diverse populations and a commitment to removing barriers to equity in the classroom.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $62,000.00 Annually

The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate. Faculty rank will be commensurate with education and qualifications.
