Student Affairs/ Wellness - Campus Advocate, Part Time
D’Youville University (DYU) seeks a dedicated and compassionate Campus Advocate to provide direct support services to students impacted by domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS). The Campus Advocate will work collaboratively with campus and community partners, to ensure students have access to crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, referrals, and safety planning. This position plays a key role in the university’s commitment to strengthening victim services and ensuring a trauma-informed response to students in need.
Note: This is a Grant Funded position
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management to students impacted by DVSAS.
- Assist students with safety planning, navigating campus and community resources, and referrals for medical, legal, and psychological services.
- Work in collaboration with DYU’s Coordinated Community Response Team, Family Justice Center, Campus Safety, and other community organizations to ensure seamless service coordination.
- Serve as a key member of the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) and assist in the development and implementation of policies, protocols, and training programs.
- Conduct educational outreach to increase awareness about victim services and available resources on campus.
- Advocate for students seeking medical attention, filing police reports, or attending legal proceedings.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided and participate in grant reporting and assessment initiatives.
- Provide training and consultation to campus staff, faculty, and student organizations on trauma-informed care and victim-centered responses.
- Collaborate with DYU’s Wellness Lodge, Title IX Coordinator, Campus Safety and Campus Ministry to enhance support systems for students.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to remain current on best practices in victim advocacy and trauma-informed care.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or a related field required.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience in victim advocacy, crisis intervention, or a related field.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Title IX regulations, trauma-informed care, and victim services best practices.
- Strong understanding of the impact of gender-based violence, cultural competency, and distinct student needs.
- Experience working with LGBTQ+ populations, students of color, and other marginalized groups is highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively with law enforcement, legal services, and community-based organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
