Athletics - Head Sprint Football Coach
Summary:
Under general supervision the Head Sprint Football Coach is responsible for developing a best-in-class sprint football program that represents the institution and athletic department’s mission and values. The head coach will lead, teach, recruit, and graduate a diverse group of high character student-athletes who embody respect, sportsmanship, service, hard work, and determination. The sprint football coach will lead a program that competes at a high level on the field and in the classroom. Student-athlete welfare and experience will guide all decisions made by the sprint football coach.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the educational mission of the University by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in sprint football training and competition.
- Oversees all aspects of the program, including but not limited to game preparation, practice execution, scouting and supervision of assistant coaches.
- Recruits high character student-athletes for the sprint football program.
- Instructs methods and strategies to effectively coach student-athletes in the sport.
- Makes recommendations for scholarships.
- Schedules practices and games.
- Coordinates all hotel reservations and meals for travel.
- Communicates competition schedule with administrative assistant for bus transportation reservations.
- Trains and supervises assistant coach(es).
- Participates and engages in campus events, organizations, and committees as assigned.
- Monitors specific sport budget to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Develop and administer all phases of a competitive Sprint Football program in accordance with the CSFL and the ECC rules and regulations as it relates to the mission of D’Youville University
- Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Responsible for providing all material relevant to the team (rosters with hometowns, high schools, etc. and schedules) in a timely manner before the beginning of the season, to the athletic communications office (sports information).
- Maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Athletics and Planning.
- Requires evening and weekend hours and travel.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required or high school diploma with high-level amateur of professional playing and/or coaching experience.
- Valid driver's license required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of university business on a regular basis.
- Ability to travel when necessary.
- Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
- Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Annual Blood Borne Pathogen education/training with Athletic Training Office.

Pay: $48,000-$50,000 Annually
