College of Osteopathic Medicine - Assistant Dean for Admissions
Summary:
The Assistant Dean for Admissions will collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer and work under the support of the Dean to ensure the unified execution and implementation of all recruiting, advisement, and career counseling responsibilities for both internal and external constituents of the proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine.
D’Youville University’s proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine, currently seeking accreditation, is located in Buffalo, NY. D’Youville University invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Admissions. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of recruitment, advisement, and career opportunities for the proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Assistant Dean for Admissions reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities
- Manage and implement the admissions process for prospective osteopathic medicine students, including reviewing and evaluating applications through AACOMAS to ensure adherence to COCA accreditation standards and internal criteria.
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan involving targeted advertising, travel arrangements, on-campus visits, interviews, and informational sessions.
- Coordinate and execute interview days and applicant events, including both on-campus and virtual recruitment events such as information sessions and Open Houses.
- Schedule visits to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate institutions to promote DYU-COM programs to prospective students and pre-health advisors/faculty.
- Collaborate with marketing and outreach teams to enhance recruitment strategies and effectively highlight osteopathic philosophy and holistic care principles.
- Generate and analyze reports on admissions statistics, applicant trends, and student progress, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and AACOM/COCA guidelines.
- Provide academic and career advisement to enrolled osteopathic medicine students, supporting their development of individualized academic plans.
- Maintain strong communication with students, faculty, and staff; develop and distribute relevant admissions and advising materials.
- Ensure accuracy in maintaining up-to-date student records and applicant data in accordance with institutional and accreditation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
Experience:
- Knowledge of osteopathic medical education and accreditation standards.
- Experience with admissions, student advising, or related higher education roles.
- Familiarity with AACOMAS or other centralized application systems.
- Familiarity with admissions and CRM systems (e.g., Slate, AMP, AACOMAS, or similar platforms).
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in data management and communication software.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and motivation to contribute to institutional growth.
- Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to develop and maintain evaluation and development procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of academic departments and their individual courses.
- Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.

- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
- Proficiency in performance analysis and quality improvement methodologies.
- Ability to identify problems, develop strategies, and implement change initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Physical & Enviornmental:
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. from floor level, including maneuvering standard file boxes for archival purposes.
- Must be able to occasionally bend, twist, and stoop as part of regular office tasks.
- Frequent use of a computer keyboard and other standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, copier, scanner, printer, mobile device).
- May be required to work outside of standard business hours as needed.
- Expected to maintain appropriate personal hygiene and comply with the business casual dress code.
