Office of Communications & Marketing - Social Media Marketing Manager
Summary:
The Social Media Marketing Manager at D’Youville University is responsible for creating and managing content across various platforms, including social media, news articles, and web content. This role works within the University Office of Communications & Marketing and involves collaboration with the Director of Communications & Marketing, members of the Department of Institutional Advancement, and other campus leaders to enhance the university's communications and visibility through compelling storytelling and effective content management. This position reports to the Director of Communications & Marketing.
Responsibilities:
- Post text, video, and images on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.
- Report and write news articles and feature stories of varying lengths.
- Update and maintain web news copy on www.dyu.edu and related sites that could be managed by the University Office of Communications & Marketing.
- Work with various university and campus partners to gather and update information and create compelling web content for www.dyu.edu, social media, and traditional publications such as D’Mensions magazine.
- Analyze and maintain social media and digital media data to identifying strategic weaknesses and make recommendations for improvements.
- Follow online conversations on D’Youville’s social media channels and engage followers when appropriate.
- Assist our alumni department with potential influencers.
- Lead or assist with other writing projects and video scripts as assigned.
- Assist with editorial calendars, project planning, and other marketing and communications initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, creative writing, journalism or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.
Experience:
- Desire at least 1-3 years of professional experience or a combination of experience, internships, and related.
- Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn new and emerging technology.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to produce a variety of documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought, and orderliness of presentation; ability to use the tools, techniques, and media to communicate internally and externally; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in a simple, clear language appropriate to the target audience
- Demonstrated ability to research, write, copyedit, and proofread, as well as work within deadlines and use web technologies and social media; ability to develop, produce, and distribute print and electronic materials such as online and print feature content and marketing materials.
- Basic photo and video editing skills, such as cropping or resizing photos using software such as Canva, Adobe, etc.
- Experience publishing and maintaining organizational, business, or institutional social media platforms, mainly Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, as well as the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Awareness of rapidly changing online and social media environment; experience in staying abreast and implementing modern techniques for conveying messaging and communications.
- Experience with website content management systems a plus.
- Photography and videography skills a plus.
- Handle multiple tasks and priorities at once while solving problems and being innovative.
- Must possess a student-centered personal philosophy.
- Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours.
- Uphold and abide by D’Youville University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX and Information Security, including but not limited to FERPA and other state and federal guidelines and mandates.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $53,000.00 Annually
