Business Office - Accounting Clerk
Summary:
The Accounting Clerk will support the accounting team by performing a variety of routine clerical and financial tasks, with a focus on accurate data entry, document organization, and basic transaction processing. This position will assist with monthly credit card reporting, help prepare and enter journal entries (including reclassifications and recurring entries) and ensure that financial records are well maintained and audit-ready. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn, with a strong interest in gaining hands-on experience in accounting operations within a university setting. They should be able to accurately maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all day to day treasury activities, cash processing, cash reconciliations, payroll funding
- Assist with reviewing and reconciling monthly credit card reports
- Entry level grant-accounting and reporting
- Entry-level lease accounting
- Assist with day to day operations of subsidiary accounting
- Basic journal entries, including reclassifications and monthly recurring entries
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting for audits and monthly financial reporting
- Support the accounting team with other day-to-day clerical tasks
Requirements:
Education:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting is preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in accounting or general ledger work.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping
- Ability to work independently and handle sensitive financial information with integrity
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and general ledger concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 Annually
